Keyword search is used in the first step of a Literature Review (Identifying relevant literature).

Journals, Databases and Conferences are searched for Keywords to find relevant literature.

A limitation is that keywords have limited time validity and words people use might change over time, thus forward (who cited this paper?) and backward (what papers where cited in this paper) search need to be performed in order to find all relevant literature.
