Motivation depends on 2 main factors:
- Expectancy: The expectation of beeing able to complete the task
- Value: One has to value the outcome
3 relationships:

- If I put in efford, I perform well
- If I perform well, the organization will reward me
- Those rewards are meaningful to me (Not given, organization might give rewards that are actually more duties like a promotion)
Employees have to perceive the three motivations as positive
Managers have to ensure the relationships exist
